Clean Water and Sanitation

Water is a precious resource that should not be taken for granted, and careful water management is crucial for the future of our planet. An effective solution for saving water adopted by Cankarjev dom is the use of automatic faucets and toilet flushers. The sensor in touchless faucets sends the signal of motion to the valve to activate the faucet. It lets the valve know when it's time to stop the water based on the absence of movement. This cuts water consumptions and prevents unnecessary water drip while washing hands and significantly reduces the amount of water wasted. Toilet flushers are also crucial to saving water, as they reduce water consumption. All in addition to cutting down how often you touch certain surfaces – and your risk of catching an infection, which is especially important in public places. 

At our events, instead of bottled water, we serve clean, high-quality drinking water from Ljubljana’s public water supply. We encourage attendees, performers, and guest artists to bring reusable bottles and refill them with tap water.

Cankarjev dom has received the “Tap Water” certificate awarded by the Slovenian Chamber of Public Utilities. By obtaining this certificate, we have joined environmentally responsible organisations committed to promoting drinking tap water and eliminating bottled water at their premises, events, and daily meetings.
